alex savidge is joining us live to tell us you may be seeing more cameras out there on market street. alex. >> reporter: this is all being prompted by last week's terrorist attack at the boston marathon. and in that case we know surveillance cameras were key to catching the two bombing suspects. now already as we probably have seen, there are a lot of private security cameras up on buildings all along market street, but right now chief greg suhr is pushing to have more cameras installed. cams as that will -- cameras that will be monitored by the police department. it will give police a continuous picture of the crowds. now san francisco already does have cameras that are set up in high crime areas but police don't monitor them in realtime. they only take a look at the video after a crime is taken place. now the chief is planning to present this idea from market street cameras during an upcoming hearing on event safety. supervisor eric marr called for this hearing in response to the boston bombings. one man i talked with a little while ago says you should give police all the tools they

alex savidge is joining us in it'ser city. what kind of problems to they have there? >> reporter: the winds are letting up a bit where we are right now. still the warning is out for drivers. it will be a rough ride. you can see the sign here at the san mateo bridge. we just came across the bridge. our truck was getting blown around quite a bit. there was a high wind advisory in place on all the major bridges around the bay area this morning. the strong gusts have also caused a lot of damage. in san leandro a large branch came crashing down on top of a car. it also took down power lines and that triggered a small outage. that was on the 900 block of joaquin avenue. no one though was hurt there. meantime in pleasant hill a large tree was blown down on top of a pickup truck. and again no one injured in that situation either. now here on the peninsula this morning, a lot of people are waking up in the dark. we checked in with pg&e this morning. they said roughly 20,000 people on the peninsula are without power. what we are doing we are on the way to portola valley. the re

live in san francisco i'm alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. >>> let's head back over to sal because that fremont incident with that overturned truck you wonder if people will slow down. >> we are wondering that too. this truck came off the freeway and flipped over on 680 northbound at mission. and someone was injured. now a news chopper 2 is showing us the live pictures. we're also looking at the freeway nearby as you can see traffic is moving along through but you can't use the mission boulevard exit from 680 north. southbound traffic is moving along through. and so far this is not done a major number on the freeway nearby. you can see traffic is still moving well. it is relatively early for this commute. and hopefully this will be taken care of before it becomes a major problem. but our news chopper 2 is looking at it from above. you can see now that these pictures are showing you of a crash last night in the santa cruz mountains where one person was killed when the car went down the embankment on bear creek road near the summit. the car went off the side. went as many as 400 feet down
